You are NOT a Sketch

Although modeling agencies and fashion promoters are called forth as the main causers of eating disorder promoters, in April of 2013, a Brazilian modeling agency posted creepy pictures titling them "You are NOT a Sketch". The article featured pictures of designers sketches with pictures of models altered to look the same way. The sketches being small and disproportionate made the models look creepy and in-humane. The controversy over the pictures is whether or not they would promote eating disorders or push people away from the terrible disease.

The Impact of the Fashion Industry: You Can't Have Fashion Without Victims

Article: http://voices.yahoo.com/the-impact-fashion-industry-cant-fashion-3393156.html

In the article The Impact of the Fashion Industry: You Can't Have Fashion Without Victims by Emily Tronetti, Tronetti talks about the positive and negative effects that the fashion industry has on our society. Tronetti starts of her article by saying "The Fashion Industry has impacted not only the clothes we wear and who we are on the outside, but also, who we are on the inside.", which was used as the theme throughout most of the article. She uses examples of women trying to fit in to the image of perfection that the fashion industry has produced and how easily trends can be made and changed. The tone of this article is very nonchalant and informative while talking about the effects fashion has on our lives
After reading this article, I could definitely relate to a lot of what Tronetti was saying. Not only because I enjoy fashion and what the fashion industry produces, this article was written in such a way that anyone that reads can relate. The impact of the fashion industry has been here for a very long time and from what Tronetti was saying, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Fashion is not just what you wear but a way to express yourself.
