Interview Summary
After researching and reading many blogs on the topic of pictures of models, celebrities and "perfect girls" effecting how other women think about themselves, I decided to interview a few of my peers. With this topic being a common problem among many teenage girls, I picked 2 girls, one using the internet everyday, the other a few times a week. I asked them basic questions concerning themselves, for example how many times they went on Tumblr/Pintrest ?, If they were happy with how they looked, etc. It wasn't till I asked how they would help a person struggling with themselves based on looking at these pictures and how they would help them, till I felt an honest concern and interest in my project from these 2 girls. What most people don't realize is how much of an issue "Thinspiration" and photo blogs have become. While explaining them the extent people go to to look a certain way, there faces dropped. I asked them if this topic should be broadcasted more as a major problem among teenage girls and women and they both agreed. This reoccurring issue is not going to just disappear on it's own, it is important for everyone to bring awareness to this topic. In doing so we might not only save lives but help women feel more confident and happy with there bodies.

Social Media Effects
Tumblr, Pinterest, Magazines, Celebrities, Models, all within our lines of vision or at a touch of our finger. These social networking sites, entertainment, and beautiful people all inspire people in many different ways. But has it gone to far? With people becoming obsessed with fitting in to that "perfect size" or "perfect body image" because of what they see on Tumblr or Pinterest, has become a huge issue. What people need to realize is that most of these pictures are edited, not possible for each and every person, and below the weight or size that normal people should regularly be at. These blog posts or pictures not only make people striving to reach this sort of "look" self conscious, but also uneasy when thinking about how to reach what they define as perfect.

This plays a very important role in not only everyday life but also plays a role in people's thoughts on there own self worth. Fashion Advertising works in a way that appeals to your emotions as well as what you find enticing to look at. Marketers use commercials, ad's, and celebrities to pull your attention towards there brand. Fashion Advertising is important in many aspects because it not only affects the marketer & the buyer, but decides what will be popular in the future.

Statistics on Anorexia
According to National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders Inc. The following statistics were recorded as a result of viewing extensive exposure to images effecting young girls and the view they have on there body.
- 47% of girls in 5th-12th grade reported wanting to lose weight because of magazine pictures.
- 69% of girls in 5th-12th grade reported that magazine pictures influenced their idea of a perfect body shape.
These statistics prove what I had originally thought. What we don't realize is how much of an impact these images in your local grocery store have on how young girls perceive themselves. This type of information is everywhere and easily accessible, making it more of a reality how much of a serious topic this has become.
Teen Health and The Media have also done many studies on how images, television, celebrities and so on, effect the way young girls view themselves. In a study funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, "girls 9 and 10 years old, 40% have tried to lose weight". While during a study on fifth graders "10 year old
girls told researchers they were dissatisfied with their own
bodies after watching a music video by Britney Spears or a clip from the
TV show "Friends"." These harsh statistics describe the scares of how images or videos are effecting not only teens but young girls as well. It is important for us to pay attention to our youth and realize when they are making a cry for help.

The Effects of Fashion Advertising
Blog: http://fashionistasblogcomm111.blogspot.com/
This blog is a good example of the effects of fashion advertising, which is a big part of the fashion industry. Advertisements in magazines, on T.V., or billboards help marketers get the image they want across. This blog contemplates the idea whether the advertisements have gone to far. With young women and teens looking at the models for these companies, this blog puts forward the idea that because of these skin and bones models, young girls are becoming more and more self conscience. This idea is beginning to become a huge issue for the fashion industry, yet is anything being done to stop it?
